Underachiever
(©2010 Steve Connelly)

Almost nothing fazes me,
I’ve even seen a UFO,
I am as steady as an old oak tree,
almost nothing fazes me.

And I’m an even-tempered guy,
I don’t get mad at little things.
Drop the bomb and I will only sigh,
I’m an even-tempered guy.

Baby, don’t you worry,
life ain’t passing us by,
it all adds up piece by piece.
This underachiever
could be king of the world—
all it takes is luck and a little grease.

I don’t ask questions anymore,
I leave it all a mystery.
Well, I answer the phone and I answer the door,
but I won’t ask questions anymore.

And I ain’t trying to get ahead,
but I ain’t fallin’ far behind.
Just give us this day our daily bread,
I’m not trying to get ahead.

Baby, don’t you worry,
life ain’t passing us by,
it all adds up piece by piece.
This underachiever
could be king of the world—
all it takes is luck and a little grease.
