They Killed Love
(©2010 Steve Connelly)

They took themselves too seriously
the simple things, they could not see.
And when it came, it was no joke,
a dark spirit was evoked.

They killed love, they killed love,
using weapons from the other side.
They killed love, they killed love,
Murder One, nowhere to hide.

The little children at their feet,
their old friends were so discreet.
The things they did habitually
pulled them apart spiritually.

They killed love, they killed love,
shooting weapons from the other side.
They killed love, they killed love,
Murder One, nowhere to hide.

They couldn’t hide the evidence,
they went from violence to violence,
they did their time in the present tense,
they killed love, they killed love,
they killed love, they killed love.

It all came down to skin and bones,
they double-parked in the pleasure zone
and when they pawned their wedding rings,
they took that bird and they clipped its wings.

They killed love, they killed love,
shooting weapons from the other side.
They killed love, they killed love,
Murder One, nowhere to hide.

They killed love, they killed love,
they killed love, they killed love.
